I am an illustrator who seeks and finds inspiration in the simplest and most profound moments of life.
My illustration project focuses on a character called Culito. She is the way I have of capturing what for me is the essence of the happiness of everyday moments, hedonism, intimacy and emotions. From the pleasure of coming home and playing a vinyl while enjoying a glass of wine, to the simple act of having a coffee in the morning or taking a bath that leaves your fingers wrinkled, I like to think that Culito personifies those simple moments in life. The inspiration came from my own body acceptance process that began a few years ago.
I immersed myself in the experience of going naked around the house, learning to see myself and finally accept my body as it is, with all its virtues and without judging it for its supposed “defects.” I want Culito to convey that same sense of comfort and celebrate beauty and authenticity in all its forms.
The intention of HEDONISM AND NOSTALGIA is the celebration of simple pleasures and the female body, where the exploration of Mediterranean traditions alternates with longing for my land: Venezuela.
